The state institution of education "The Institute of Theology of Saints Methodius and Cyrill" of the Belarusian State University was established in October 2004 as a legally independent structural subdivision of the leading higher educational institution of the republic.
The decision to establish the Institute of Theology corresponds to the historical tradition of European universities, in which theology departments have always existed.
The main goal of the Institute of Theology of BSU is the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of philosophical anthropology, theology and religious studies. The need for such specialists is conditioned by the modern stage of development of the Belarusian society, its appeal to human problems in the developing and changing world.
Christianity in general and Orthodoxy in particular was one of the main factors shaping the Belarusian statehood, culture and morality of the people of Belarus and it is therefore natural to address these values in today's turbulent times.
The scientific and pedagogical potential of the Institute of Theology of the Belarusian State University, the curriculum of the specialty and the teaching conditions allow our students to become highly qualified specialists in the field of theology, religious studies, teaching ethics, aesthetics and cultural studies, as well as in the field of religious studies, philosophical anthropology and philosophy of culture (magistracy). Students the possibility of self-realization in scientific work, in social service and volunteer work, in artistic amateur performance. Many students of the Institute are laureates and students of scientific conferences and competitions, winners of various youth social projects, laureates of amateur art competitions of BSU and Minsk.
Agreements on cooperation with a number of European universities give an opportunity to students of the Institute to undergo training and training in Germany, Italy, France, England, Russia.
